Chesapeake Utilities completed Phase I of its new Work Order Management system.

Collaboration & Automation

Chesapeake Utilities has completed and implemented Phase 1 of its Work Order Management initiative.  Phase 2 is already in motion with plans to complete this segment of the project by the end of 2019.

The Work Order Management initiative entails the collaboration of Chesapeake Utilities with BIS and Customer Care.  The three business areas selected IFS software as the work order management system to assist with the automation of all work orders.  Work orders manage the work in the field from start to finish for our operations teams and are created to meet compliance and the needs of our customers.

IFS software has been in use by FPU and ESNG for several years and has proven to be reliable.  The version being used at Chesapeake Utilities serves as the platform to expand the use of the system for FPU and ESNG.  The Work Order Management system enhances the way work orders are processed and provides efficiencies as Chesapeake Utilities continues to grow.

The benefits of the Work Order Management system directly impact our customers and Chesapeake Utilities’ operations, customer care and sales.  These benefits include:

  • Improved communications and response times
  • Improved data integrity to reduce compliance risks and create greater transparency
  • Improved processes with the elimination of duplication

“I would like to thank all of the team members for their efforts in the successful implementation of Phase 1 and the work done so far in Phase 2.  Upon its completion, this project will transform how we perform and manage all work orders and will enhance our ability to sustain our growth and meet our customers’ needs.  We will keep everyone informed as Phase 2 progresses,”

Aleida Soccaras, Vice President of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation
