Heart of Our Culture

Though we are not able to volunteer in person as a Company during the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to contribute to local and national organizations via event sponsorships and donations of funds and items. In April, the Company donated $200,000 to support response and relief organizations assisting communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We also awarded a one-time grant from the SHARING program for our customers economically impacted by the pandemic. Our SHARING program is a nonprofit organization assisting natural gas and propane gas customers living on the Delmarva Peninsula who need financial assistance to pay their gas bills. Additionally, we recently funded our Chesapeake SHARING program in Florida to assist propane gas, natural gas and electric customers throughout the state.

“At Chesapeake Utilities, we care about the communities we serve, and we recognize the personal impact and uncertainty the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic has had on our customers,” said Jeff Householder, President and CEO. “Our new SHARING grant helps customers facing financial hardships. Additional donations were issued to support organizations such as Feeding America, United Way and The Salvation Army as they provide food assistance, financial resources and address short and long-term community needs.”

During this unprecedented time, the Chesapeake Giving program was launched to provide all employees with a convenient opportunity to support our customers and communities impacted by COVID-19 through September 30, 2020. By visiting the Chesapeake Giving landing page, employees may select one of the qualifying listed organizations to which to provide a donation. The Company will then match each donation dollar-for-dollar up to $1,000 per transaction.
