Inspiring Future Generations

More than 1,200 students attended the mentoring event held at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury, MD.

Chesapeake partnered with Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore for the nonprofit organization’s first JA Inspire event. More than 1,200 students attended the mentoring event held at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury, MD. Employee representatives from Chesapeake Utilities, Corporate, ESNG and Sandpiper Energy were included in the 95 exhibitors showcasing different types of careers and opportunities.

JA Inspire is a national program developed by Junior Achievement to introduce eighth-grade students to the vast variety of local career opportunities. This job awareness fair enables students to interact with volunteers from local companies, government agencies, nonprofit organizations and educational organizations to learn about various careers and the connections these careers have with their high school programming options.

“Chesapeake’s support for our JA Inspire event was invaluable! Junior Achievement is proud to work with a sponsor like Chesapeake where the student impact is of paramount importance. Also, we’re pretty sure that the Chesapeake team had more meetings prior to the event than our own staff so we applaud their excitement and preparation; it truly showed on the day of the event.”

Jayme Hayes, President, Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore
