Throughout October 2020, the annual breast cancer awareness month, the Women in Energy committee championed us to think pink by promoting awareness and support of the fight against breast cancer.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Breast Cancer Awareness initiative!

During October, we held a WIE Huddle on Breast Cancer Awareness presented by Cheryl Lemon at Aspire Energy. We also shared a series of Myths and Facts about Breast Cancer on each Friday of the month. We concluded the month with a virtual 5K. For each mile walked, $1 will be donated to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a branch of the American Cancer Society.

I would like to extend a special thank you to all employees, their families and friends who participated in the 5K. Below are a few photos submitted as you participated wearing your pink! Because of you, Chesapeake Utilities Corporations’ Women In Energy will be making a donation of $500. In addition, our Executive VP and CFO Beth Cooper will contribute an additional $500 match to bring our total donation to $1,000!

Our 2020 WIE Executive Sponsor Lou Anatrella pulled the lucky participant raffle winner. The winner of the 5K participant raffle and recipient of an Apple Watch is Amy Kouse. Congratulations!
